It’s All in the Details
After several visits to Walt Disney World, most returning guests approach their vacations with a different frame of mind. Yes, there are the must-do attractions, those rides and shows that embody our Disney experience; the ones we have to see again and again. And yes, there will always be something new; Walt Disney World is an ever-changing and expanding universe. But, happily, having had the opportunity to see and do a great deal during past visits, we don’t feel the pressing need for the commando approach. We can stop and really take a look around.
There are millions of details often overlooked by the casual observer, and we can take the time to delight in their discovery. Every architectural and design element shows up again and again in imaginative variation. Cobblestones are laid in an extraordinary range of patterns; doors come in every conceivable shape, color, and style; topiary embraces hundreds of themes; lights are used in astonishing ways; signage is elevated to an art form. Choose anything: chairs, chimneys, chocolate; it’s easy to find dozens of ways in which it’s been reimagined. Take a moment to appreciate the myriad details that set the stage, whether the stage be a village in Africa, an old-time gas station, a movie set, or the cozy home of a certain mouse.
