Meet the Photographers – Dan Pratezina
Perhaps no other element is more intrinsic to the magic of Walt Disney World than the architecture. It is used to set a scene; to transport us to another place and time; to tell a tale. Even visitors who walk right by the art deco facades at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the thatched roof of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, or the wondrous exterior of the Haunted Mansion, are
unwittingly pulled into the moment and surrounded by the story being told.
Dan Pratezina has a special affinity for these details, and we think he has captured perfectly the soaring beauty of the lobby at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in the photo featured on our Grand Indulgence itinerary page. Here we get a pleasant glimpse of the lace-curtained windows, extravagant gingerbread, and gentle, small-town charm that is Main Street, U.S.A. Thanks, Dan!
Travel Dads
My thanks to Paul Banas for the opportunity to write a guest article for his website www.greatdad.com We offer some tips specifically for Dads traveling with their families, but anyone planning a vacation with kids will find some helpful suggestions and ideas for a memorable trip.
Exploring parenting from a uniquely paternal perspective, Paul’s site is chock full of helpful information about the challenges of child-rearing, and also provides advice and support for dads; by dads. Featuring forums, a dad blog, news and recommendations, even dad-designed products; it’s a valuable resource for the father in every family.
Lounging at the Lodge
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is known for its nooks. One of the nicest, overlooking the gorgeous lobby, is tucked away above the main entrance. Like every corner of this resort, it’s themed to perfection and infused with warmth. Boasting two distinct spaces, it’s a favorite spot to enjoy coffee with the morning papers, or check email.
In the evening, the cozy seating area with its own fireplace invites guests to relax with a book or enjoy a board game with the family. The charming writing area features glowing Mission-style lamps and is perfect for penning postcards or catching up on a little work that just
had to be brought along. While the seating areas in the lobby draw the crowds, this secluded place offers a bit of privacy with views to the activity below. Even visitors not staying here have discovered this wonderful place to sit and experience a bit of Lodge living!
A pleasant boat ride from the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is the perfect choice for a break from the bustle of Main Street, U.S.A.
